Recently, I reached out to some of my Hispanic neighbors and discovered that they are too fearful to leave their homes to shop for groceries. Many only venture out for work, and the anxiety and uncertainty they face make it challenging to care for their families. It’s heartbreaking to witness the level of distress and isolation they endure, especially when it comes to providing basic necessities like food.

Due to the current situation, the 20-25 families benefiting from these donations wish to remain anonymous. Every week or two, I will purchase fresh food and deliver it to those who need it most. This support will help families feed their children, alleviate some of their fears, and remind them that they are not alone. They shared with me:

“We are terrified that they will take us away from our families.”

“We don’t have anyone here to help us because even those with papers know we are not safe.”

“They’ve taken family members and friends we know. We don’t know where they are or what will happen to them.”

“I feel like I hate that I was born with this skin.”
