Hello, my name is Maya, and I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Omar, Layla, Ibrahim, and the entire Greenfield Acres team.

Like many in our community, I’ve been a loyal customer of Greenfield Acres for years. The farm has become a vital part of how we eat, cook, and connect with our food and the wonderful people who grow it.

Sadly, on the night of December 11th, a fire caused significant damage to Greenfield Acres’ main barn. Fortunately, no one was hurt. The barn was crucial to the farm’s daily operations, housing facilities for washing, packing, refrigeration, equipment storage, and other essential systems that help deliver fresh produce from the fields to our community.

Currently, the farm is assessing the full extent of the damage while working closely with its insurance company and local officials. The aftermath has created immediate logistical and operational challenges as the dedicated team strives to reorganize and determine the next steps.

For decades, Greenfield Acres has provided food for farmers’ markets, CSA members, restaurants, and food access partners throughout Brooklyn and beyond. Their operations rely on infrastructure for harvesting, washing, packing, and distribution—much of which was affected by this devastating fire.

In response to numerous friends, customers, chefs, and community members who have expressed a desire to help during this difficult time, I created this fundraiser. The funds raised will support short-term recovery efforts, including temporary measures and related expenses, as Greenfield Acres works towards stabilization and rebuilding.

This fundraiser has been created with full knowledge and approval from the Greenfield Acres team.
