Little Jack Needs a Fighting Chance After His Terrible Accident
Author: joana
Hi everyone… this is Jack.
Two weeks ago he was chasing squirrels in the backyard like every day. Then a neighbor’s car backed out too fast. Jack didn’t have time to move. Hit hard. Broken pelvis, shattered leg, lots of bruising inside. The emergency clinic said it was one of the worst orthopedic traumas they’d seen on a small dog in months.
They stabilized him overnight, did emergency surgery to pin the worst breaks, and now he’s finally home – but home with a mountain of bills we never saw coming.
Here’s what we’re facing right now:
• Already paid: initial ER visit + surgery deposit (~$4,800) • Still owed: remaining surgical fees, hospitalization, first round of meds • Ongoing needs: 6–10 weeks crate rest, strong pain control, multiple rechecks + new X-rays, physical therapy sessions starting soon • Estimated total cost: $7,500–$9,000 (and that’s if there are no complications)
We’re a single-income household with two kids and this little guy who’s been part of our family since he was 8 weeks old. We’ve put every spare dollar we had into getting him this far… but we’re tapped out. Jack doesn’t understand money. He just knows when his people are upset, and he still tries to wag that stubby tail and make us smile.
Right now he’s mostly sleeping, but every time someone walks by the crate he perks up, ears forward, like “Is it playtime yet?” That spark hasn’t gone out. We refuse to let it.
If you can help – even $10, $20, whatever you can spare – it goes straight to his vet fund: meds, follow-ups, the therapy that might let him run (even if it’s a funny little three-legged hop) again someday.
Jack’s life literally depends on us getting him through the next couple months without cutting corners on his care.
From our family to yours – thank you for even reading this. For caring about one silly, brave, tongue-out little dog who still believes the world is full of good things.
