We are excited to announce that we’re heading to the Central Philippines to film a documentary focused on Marine Protected Areas (MPAs)!

This film will highlight the efforts of the Global Wildlife Coalition to engage local coastal communities in safeguarding the rich biodiversity of Mindoro and Northern Mindanao. As we aim to protect 30% of Philippine waters by 2030, community-based conservation is a crucial step forward, and amplifying the voices of those involved is our top priority.

The documentary will accompany a research-driven policy paper created by the Climate Security Project at Stanford University, ensuring that community-led ocean protection gains the attention it deserves at the highest levels of decision-making.

We plan to present this film alongside Stanford to the Philippine Congress by the end of summer, in hopes of influencing discussions on ocean biodiversity. Our goal is to inspire policymakers to support the establishment of locally-managed Marine Protected Areas in countries like the Philippines.

While we’ve secured a small grant from various organizations, we still need your help! The funds raised will assist in covering:
