We’re currently in Fort Worth as we transition to our new duty station, staying at a hotel. During this time, I met a wonderful woman who is part of the housekeeping team. From our very first conversation, there was something about her that resonated deeply with me. She’s older, genuinely kind, and never once complains about the hard work she puts in every single day.

One day, I decided to give her a small tip while she was cleaning our room, and her heartfelt gratitude moved me profoundly. She shared how often staff are called out, which means she has to take on even more tasks. I can see how physically demanding it is for her to bend, lift, and clean after countless guests, all while maintaining a cheerful demeanor. What struck me the most was when she mentioned that sometimes she misses lunch because she’s too busy trying to finish her duties.

I couldn’t stop thinking about her after our conversation. Not because she asked for help, but because she embodies so many individuals who carry heavy burdens in silence and rarely receive recognition. I felt called to do something more meaningful for her by sharing her story and seeking support through social media. The small tip I gave her made a difference, and I kept wondering—if it meant that much, imagine what a community working together could achieve.

So, I created this fundraiser page. I’m completely new to this, but my intentions are sincere. I set a goal of $6,500, but honestly, whatever we raise will go directly to her. I still live in the area and will personally ensure she receives every dollar. My hope is that this gift allows her some breathing space. Maybe she can take time for herself, or even plan a visit to the Philippines if she wishes. I want her to feel that she matters, and that her hard work is truly seen.
