Help Us Bloom: Support Whimsy Haven’s Journey
Author: Daisy
Hi, I’m Daisy — the proud owner of Whimsy Haven. My shop is a beloved space where people come to learn about plant care, unwind, and feel a sense of connection.
Whimsy Nook has blossomed into a small but vibrant community hub, and I cherish being a part of it more than words can express. As we celebrate our fifth anniversary with our Garden Gathering, I want to share the realities of running a small business. Rising costs and ongoing expenses have put us in a tricky situation.
Our goal of $10,000 will help cover employee wages and reduce our accumulated debt. A stretch goal of $15,000 will give us some breathing room during slower months and allow us to keep our doors open longer with fresh inventory.
There’s absolutely no pressure to contribute — just being part of our community means the world to us. However, if you’re able to lend a hand, thank you for supporting this little shop and the people who make it what it is.
To make our fundraising enjoyable, we’re throwing a Garden Gathering on March 10th to celebrate our journey and raise the funds we need! Those who donate ahead of time will receive a free drink at the event 🙂
I hope you can join us for a fun community gathering to celebrate five wonderful years of Whimsy Nook, enjoy delicious refreshments, discuss the challenges we face, and rally support for our next chapter. Every donation, no matter how small, helps us out of the bind we find ourselves in.
About Us:
Whimsy Nook is a small, independently owned, women-run plant and home goods shop that has been a part of our community for five years. What began as a dream has transformed into a real, brick-and-mortar space that I started with my savings and unwavering belief that it would succeed. Whimsy Nook is a living, breathing shop that invites you to pause and take a deep breath. We’re here to help people learn how to nurture living things and connect with plants, art, and our community.
Over the years, we’ve become a space where neighbors can relax, ask questions, learn about plant care, discover local artists, attend workshops, enjoy live music, and experience genuine human interaction that is often missed in today’s digital world. We strive to support our community by hosting events, collaborating with other local businesses, championing local growers and artists, and creating a shop that feels welcoming, thoughtful, and human.
We love being here. And we want to keep being here.
So… why the bind?
Running a small retail business for five years, especially recently, has been challenging. With rising costs of goods largely due to tariffs, combined with increased living expenses, supply chain disruptions, and the unpredictable nature of small business ownership, I’ve been chasing down $12,000 for two years. It may not seem like much, but it’s enough to leave me questioning how long I can continue.
We’ve reached a point where a little community support can make a significant difference. Rather than closing shop, I chose to be open and ask for help.
Our Goal:
- $10,000 to stabilize the business
- $15,000 stretch goal to provide breathing room and cushion for slower months
How These Funds Will Help:
- Paying down existing business debts (from tariffs, rising costs, etc.)
- Investing in fresh inventory from the growers and makers we cherish
- Ensuring our employees are compensated fairly
- Allowing us to stay open longer and continue hosting community events
- Creating a small buffer for slower months so we aren’t always in survival mode
Recently, I have been shouldering this business debt alone to keep Whimsy Nook open. While it’s a labor of love, the weight has become challenging to bear by myself.
Every dollar you contribute goes directly toward keeping Whimsy Nook alive, accessible, and sustainable.
We believe small, local businesses matter. We believe community spaces matter. And we believe that asking for help when needed is a vital part of how a community thrives.
There is absolutely no obligation to give. However, if you’ve ever visited, shared a conversation with us, learned something new, or simply enjoyed having Whimsy Nook in your neighborhood, we would greatly appreciate your support. We wouldn’t be here without you.
From the depths of our hearts: thank you for five years of love, care, and community. We’re excited to keep nurturing this little shop and can’t wait to see where our journey takes us next.
With gratitude,
Daisy + Whimsy Haven
