My mom, Rebecca Lang, recently received some incredibly tough news from her doctor: her lifespan has unfortunately been reduced to just two years. For those who don’t know, my mom is currently in the final stages of multiple sclerosis, a relentless disease that has physically challenged her for years. It attacks the nervous system, causing pain and fatigue, and has dramatically impacted her life, forcing her to cope with various health issues.

Despite everything she faces, Rebecca wakes up each day with a positive spirit. Her true passion lies in teaching; she has dedicated over 40 years to educating middle school students in inner-city Hartford. Every Christmas, she lovingly gives gifts to all of her students, and during the cold winter months, she collects coats and gloves for those in need. Her heart is filled with kindness and compassion.

While many would find it easy to surrender to despair, she continues to push forward, determined to pursue her dreams.

One of her greatest dreams? To travel.

For as long as I can remember, Rebecca has yearned for the chance to explore the world. She’s held a passport for thirty years, renewing it every decade in hopes of one day using it. Unfortunately, her health challenges and the costs associated with travel have kept her from making this dream a reality—until now.

As her daughter, caregiver, and best friend, I cannot let her leave this world without helping fulfill this wish. I have chosen Barcelona in Spain as our destination—a city rich in history and culture, known for its incredible accessibility.

I rarely ask for financial assistance, and neither does my mom, but I’m humbly reaching out for support to help make this dream come true. The funds raised will go directly towards our flights to Barcelona and other travel expenses, including our week-long stay.
