Around 4:30 a.m. on January 4th, I received the call I had always dreaded.

My mom’s voice trembled as she said,
“I think your dad is unwell.”

“What happened?” I asked, already fearing the worst.
“Your dad, Dominic, fell. He can’t get up or use his left arm.”

As a medical student in emergency medicine, my mind immediately raced. This sounds like a stroke. At the hospital, my worst fears were confirmed. My mom handed the phone to the emergency physician.

“Dominic has suffered a significant hemorrhagic stroke. We are airlifting him to Portland for specialized care.”

My heart sank.

I quickly booked a flight from Los Angeles to Portland, battling fear and worry. I couldn’t shake the thought: if he survived, our lives would never be the same.

Dominic is the hardest worker I know, always putting in long hours without complaint. He has taught me the value of hard work, instilling the belief that nothing is given.

As difficult as it is for us to ask for help, we cannot do this alone. I’m reaching out for support from anyone who can assist—whether through donations or by sharing our story. Your contributions will help cover medical expenses and rehabilitation costs.

The emergency airlift alone was nearly $70,000, and insurance does not cover his therapy. This burden has strained our family financially.

Thank you for taking the time to read, for your kindness, and for standing with us during this challenging time.
