Raising funds for a nonprofit

Fundraising for nonprofits on Aidinmotion

Nonprofit fundraisers on Aidinmotion are currently supported only in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Australia. If the nonprofit you wish to support is located outside these countries, you’ll need to create a personal fundraiser instead.

There are two ways to raise money for a nonprofit through Aidinmotion:

  • Personal fundraiser: Funds are sent to a personal or business/organization bank account, and then passed on to the nonprofit.

  • Nonprofit fundraiser: Funds are delivered directly to the nonprofit—either through PayPal Giving Fund or directly to the organization if it is based in the U.S. and has enabled Aidinmotion Pay.

To launch a nonprofit fundraiser, make sure the organization you want to support is listed in our nonprofit database. Please note that fees differ slightly for nonprofit fundraisers, so we recommend reviewing our pricing details before proceeding.

How to create a nonprofit fundraiser on Aidinmotion

  1. Visit the Charity Fundraising page and click “Start an Aidinmotion.”

  2. Search for and select the nonprofit you want to support, then click “Continue.”

  3. Sign in to your account, choose whether or not to link your fundraiser to a specific occasion, and we’ll generate your fundraiser page.

  4. Use one of our occasion templates to raise funds for events such as a birthday, graduation, wedding, or memorial.

  5. Review the draft fundraiser and click “Continue.”

  6. Choose whether to receive messages from the nonprofit, then click “Complete fundraiser.”

Creating a fundraiser through a nonprofit’s peer-to-peer campaign (U.S. only)

  1. Open the peer-to-peer fundraising link shared by the nonprofit and select “Start a fundraiser.”

  2. Enter your first and last name and email address, then click “Launch fundraiser.”

  3. Aidinmotion will create a draft fundraiser, which you can claim by signing in or creating an account.

  4. Once claimed, you can edit, manage, and share your fundraiser with your network.

You can learn more about peer-to-peer and charity challenge fundraisers on our blog.

What if I accidentally created a personal fundraiser?

If you unintentionally set up a personal fundraiser and are prompted to configure bank transfers, you have a couple of options:

  • Transfer the funds to your own bank account and pass them to the nonprofit outside of Aidinmotion, or

  • Add an authorized representative of the nonprofit as the beneficiary so they can withdraw the funds directly.

Once donations have been collected, a personal fundraiser cannot be converted into a nonprofit fundraiser. If you don’t have a nonprofit representative who can receive the funds through the platform, sending the funds to your own account and delivering them personally is the best solution—and can be a meaningful way to support the organization.
